“We Are the Givers”

We are a community of Black women philanthropists supporting the initiatives led by Black women and girls in Mobile, Alabama.

The Society of Clotilda Giving Circle is a direct way for philanthropists to invest in Black women and girls by supporting their leadership and vision for Mobile County. We have partnered with the Women’s Foundation of Alabama to administer a $10,000 giving circle, which has been pre-seeded.

Rooted in deep joy, Society of Clotilda Giving Circle is a cultural experience centered on Black women that uses its proceeds to support our community initiatives for Black women and girls. The Society of Clotilda (SoC), with support from the Women’s Foundation of Alabama, mobilizes philanthropic resources of women primarily in the greater Mobile area to invest in the economic, social and political power of Black women and girls in this region.

The Society of Clotilda Giving Circle is committed to investing in organizations and/or community projects, led by Black women and girls, that increase culturally relevant programming that promotes wellbeing and wellness in our community.

Members of the Giving Circle are creators of the experience and the environment that centers the care of Black women and girls in Mobile, AL. Through our giving, we are a part of a change that uplifts our Black women and girls in important ways.


WHAT IS A GIVING CIRCLE?

A group of people with shared values who come together to make change. They pool together their money and time and decide as a circle where it should go.

HOW MANY GIVING CIRCLES ARE THERE?

There are more than 2,500 active circles around the world giving intentionally and thoughtfully. Giving circles are a modern form of collective giving with roots in cultures across the globe for many decades!

WHAT ARE THE MEMBERSHIP FEES?

A payment of $500 is requested for members of the giving circle. This can be paid in one lump sum or you can pay monthly. If you choose to pay monthly, we are requesting that you pay $125 for the first payment and $37.50, monthly.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THE GIVING CIRCLE?

Build a network of women that is a catalyst for gender and racial equity in the greater- Mobile area.

WHO IS THE WOMEN'S FOUNDATION OF ALABAMA?

The Women’s Foundation of Alabama creates positive social change in the lives of women and girls by fundraising, facilitating community partnerships, and advocacy. They aim to inspire women to use their philanthropic power to create positive social change for women and girls. To accomplish this mission, they identify gaps in services, champion vulnerable women and girls through community collaboration and policy change, and fund innovative solutions. From women’s economic security to predatory lending and sex trafficking, the Fund strategically targets issues that affect women and their children in our community and strives to end the cycle of victimhood.
